What I Wore This Week: Easy Summer Outfits Built Around One Piece I’ve Been Wanting to Wear
If you’re someone who stares at your closet wondering where to start when putting together an outfit this one’s for you. As I shared in this post, one thing I like to do is plan my outfits around one piece I really want to wear. It makes getting dressed easier, more fun, and helps me incorporate all of the clothes in my closet that I look forward to wearing.
I wanted to share how that actually plays out for me within a week, so here’s what I wore this past week and why I chose each outfit. Whether you’re looking for weekly outfit ideas, summer outfit inspiration, or just love a good peek into someone else’s real-life outfits, here’s a breakdown of what I wore each day-and the one piece that inspired the look.
Sunday: Floral Dress for Church + Swimwear for a Beach Day
My Sunday morning started with a floral dress—lightweight, easy to wear, and perfect for church. After that, we headed to the beach as a family, so I changed into a comfy swimsuit and pulled on gauze shorts as a cover-up. Easy and functional, but still cute.

Monday: Flowy Floral Pants + a Yellow Top
I’ve been wanting to wear these flowy floral pants, and Monday was the day. I paired them with a yellow top that felt bright and cheerful. They were super comfy for being in the car for a few hours.

Tuesday: Yellow Button-Down + Denim Shorts (Day to Night)
I love a good button-down in the summer- I feel like they are the perfect layering piece! I styled a yellow cropped button-down with my go-to denim shorts for a casual daytime outfit. That evening, I kept the same shorts but swapped in a striped tee to watch my son’s soccer practice.

Wednesday: Floral Maxi Skirt + Built-In Bra Tank
This floral maxi skirt is one of my favorite pieces in my closet, and I’d been thinking about it all week. I paired it with a high-neck tank that has a built-in bra. I just take out the pads and add my Cakes.
That night, I changed into a pink skort and athletic tank to play pickleball.

Thursday: Flowy Shorts + Denim Button-Down
On Thursday I had a teacher workshop to go to. I chose a pair of flowy shorts that look like a skirt—super comfy but still put-together. I added a tank and a cropped denim button-down. Later, I changed into a swimsuit and denim shorts for a splash pad playdate.

Friday: Statement Sleeve Tee + White Linen Skirt
Back to the workshop in a cute tee with fun sleeve details and a white linen skirt. Loved how simple but cute outfit felt, and I love navy blue and white together. In the evening, I changed into linen shorts when a friend came over.

Saturday: Denim Jumper for a Family Party
We had a big family party on Saturday and it was humid. I wanted something that wouldn’t stick to me, so I pulled out my denim jumper. It kept me cool and comfortable while still feeling cute.

Other Recent Outfits from Mid-July
These outfits were from the week before, but I wanted to share them here with you as well.
Final Thoughts: Wear the Piece You’re Excited About
Each of these outfits started with one thing I couldn’t wait to wear—and that’s what made getting dressed feel fun again. So if you’ve been saving a piece in your closet for the “right moment,” this is your sign: just wear it.
