What I wore as a high school teacher in October
October always feels like peak fall teacher outfit season — cool mornings, warmer afternoons, and so many chances to mix cozy layers, color, and texture. Between regular school days and not one but two spirit weeks, this month had a little bit of everything.
Here’s a look back at what I wore in October — lots of real outfits I wore to school and a few easy ideas to save for later!
Regular October Outfits
1. Linen Maxi Dress + Cropped Denim Shirt + Fun Earrings
This combo gave me all the early-fall vibes. The linen maxi dress was lightweight enough for warmer days, and the cropped denim shirt layered perfectly without feeling bulky. I added statement earrings to make it feel pulled together.

2. Sherpa Vest + Printed Long Sleeve Tee + Pixie Pants + Woven Ballet Flats
Comfy but cute! I loved this outfit so much! The sherpa vest adds texture and is so cozy and I paired it with my favorite teacher pants.

3. Barrel Jeans + Aerie Oversized Sweatshirt
I wore this for a Friday and felt nice and cozy. I ended up loving the oversized sweatshirt and barrel jeans together.

4. Sweater + Jeans + Belt + Barn Coat
Classic fall layers. I tucked my sweater into jeans, added a belt for shape, and topped it off with a barn coat. I wore this for a professional development day.

5. Olive Green Pixie Pants + Quince Cashmere Cardigan
Simple, soft, and so easy to wear. The olive adds a nice change from my usual black or navy, and the Quince cardigan is one of my favorite “splurge” pieces. It also makes a nice gift!

6. Purple Pants + Navy Gauze Button-Down
I loved the color combo in this one! These purple pants always make me happy when I wear them, and I loved them with this easy button down.

7. Floral Maxi Skirt + Cardigan
Flowy and pretty and perfect for those days you want to look extra put-together but still be comfortable. I wore this one with flats and simple jewelry.

8. Plaid Skirt + Black Tee + Oversized Denim Shirt
I’ve been loving this plaid skirt for Fall! Adding the oversized denim shirt felt like “me” and dressed it down for a comfy teacher outfit.

9. Floral Top + Black Pixie Pants + Loafers
A go-to teacher combo that always works. The floral top adds color and pattern, and loafers make it easy to move around all day.

10. Blue Mini Dress
Simple, comfy, and cute. I love throwing on a dress midweek when I don’t want to think too hard about what to wear.

11. Sweatshirt + Jeans + Sneakers
A classic “comfort first” outfit that still looks pulled together. I wore this for a professional development day in my district.

12. Wide-Leg Linen Pants + Denim Shirt
Effortlessly put together. I love how the wide-leg silhouette balances the structure of the denim shirt — a great transitional outfit for fall.

13. Fair Isle Sweater + Pixie Pants
I love the colors in this fair isle sweater! I paired it with pixie pants and mules.

🎉 Spirit Weeks
October also had two spirit weeks — so lots of themed fun mixed in!
Spirit Week #1:
- Tie-Dye Day: Denim jumper + tie-dye tee — easy and colorful!
- White Collar vs. Blue Collar: I went with trousers and a tee for a simple take.
- On Wednesdays We Wear Pink: Pink pants and a denim shirt — always a favorite combo.
- Twin Day: I kept it simple with a black shirt and jeans to twin with the other teachers in my department.
- School Color Day: (Not pictured) – had to rep our colors, of course

Spirit Week #2:
- Black & Orange Day: Wore my floral heart sweatshirt from Mountain Moverz – festive without being over the top.
- Pink Day: Pink pants and a white sweater.
- Neon Day: Didn’t have anything neon, so I went with a butter yellow sweater and pixie pants.
- Halloween: Flannel, graphic tee, and jeans – simple and cute!

Wrapping It Up
October’s outfits were a mix of layers, classic teacher pieces, and fun spirit day looks. If you’re looking for easy, practical outfit ideas to wear through fall, hopefully this gives you a little inspiration!
Now that the weather’s cooling off for real, I’m excited to pull out even more sweaters, boots, and layers for November.
