January Teacher Outfits

January can be a tough month for teaching – the days are long, cold, and dark, the excitement of Christmas is over, and it’s a long time until February break! One thing that always helps me is putting together outfits I love. I enjoy getting dressed in the morning, and it helps me feel ready for my day. Here’s what I wore this month!

I wore this rainbow sweater a lot this winter (check out my February teacher outfits & March teacher outfits and you’ll see it there, too!) It’s fun to have a bright piece or two in your wardrobe for those dreary winter days.  This was my outfit for the day back to school after Christmas break!

My pixie pants are my go-to teacher pants, and I wore them a few ways in January.  This first outfit is with my Quince cardigan, and I loved how the color of the belt and shoes matched to tie the outfit together.  Next I wore them with my quilted jacket.  This was such a fun piece to have in my wardrobe this Fall & Winter to mix it up from a basic cardigan.  In my third outfit I wore them with a corduroy shacket.  I love the teal color for Fall & Winter!

In this fourth outfit I paired them with my Amazon cardigan worn buttoned up. This was one of my favorite cardigans and I wore it quite a bit since getting it – so much so that I also bought it in the lavender color! You can never go wrong with a striped top, and they pair so easily with pixie pants and a cardigan.  This is such an easy outfit, and one I come back to again and again when I don’t know what to wear.  Finally I love the blue of these pixie pants, and the little speckles in this cardigan are so cute!

I also shared a reel of ways to wear pixie pants while they were on sale in January! This outfit is one of the ones I shared – you can watch that reel here!

I know sometimes leggings get a bad rap as being unprofessional, but I think there are ways to make them dressy enough for the classroom!  On very cold winter days they are sometimes all I want to throw on.  I paired them with oversized sweaters for work, both a neutral one I wore with my Western boots and a fair isle one I kept simple with Chelsea boots.

I didn’t wear skirts or dresses too often in January (just too cold!) but I did wear these two outfits. The first one is actually a maxi dress with a cardigan over it – I used a crop tuck thing from Amazon to keep it up. The second one is my favorite maxi skirt (I think I wore this monthly this school year!) with a cardigan tucked in.

January had a few cozy jeans Fridays!  My favorite was this first one as I love the printed tee and the blues, whites, and browns together.  The second outfit is one of my favorite Amazon sweaters that I have in four colors. I also loved wearing my flare jeans, and I think they always go so well with a pointed toe boot like I have on here.

One thing I get asked about a lot is how I walk in the snow with my flats or mules – and the answer is I don’t! I usually wear boots in the morning and then change into flats when I get to school. I grew up in Upstate NY and this is a normal way of life here, so it’s just never bothered me! What do you think?
